Working Creatively with Children: Loss, Grief and Trauma

One day skills workshop

This interactive workshop will explore how living through loss, grief and trauma affects the behaviour of children aged 5 - 12 years. Suitable for anyone involved in the care and support of bereaved children including counsellors, palliative care practitioners, psychologists, social and youth workers, nurses, teachers.


The workshop covers and overview of loss, grief and trauma responses, and teaches creative and effective play therapy support skills to assist children. Explore a range of “tools” for working creatively with children, such as card games, drama techniques, sand play and more.

About the Presenter

Trudy Hanson is the Chief Executive of NALAG NSW. She is a Grief Counsellor/Educator who has worked in the field of grief and bereavement for over 20 years. Trudy has trained many volunteers and professionals in grief theory and interventions throughout Australia.
