Each year 65,000 Australian’s
attempt to take their own lives (There are on average
130,000 total deaths per year in Australia) – of these
attempts – Australia loses approximately 2,500 loved
ones. Nearly all suicides are preventable.
In 2011 NALAG
began the "Walk Towards Hope", a suicide
prevention initiative which is coordinated in conjunction
with the international World Suicide Prevention Day
(September 10). This World Suicide Prevention Day,
take the time to learn about suicide, recognise the signs
and help to reduce the stigma associated with help-seeking –
you may save a life one day.
