Coffs Harbour Chapter

A Public Meeting was held on the 22 September 2003 to form the Coffs Coast Chapter of NALAG(NSW)Inc. The next year saw the development of the Chapter and the inclusion of the Bellingen Shire Bereavement Service under the NALAG umbrella. During last year two members of the committee, Aishwarya Saraswati and Jan Gaunt wrote a manual to use for training volunteers to support grieving people. This is now in use by all Chapters in NSW who have volunteer support workers. There is now a committee of 10 people who support the work of the Chapter and the Bellingen Sub Branch and a membership of approximately twenty eight people. The Bellingen group has been in existence for about 15 years, with fluctuating numbers over time and there are now 8 members and the service covers the Bellingen, Urunga, Dorrigo and Nambucca Valley. NBSBS offers : Support by trained volunteers for individuals and groups Do-It-Yourself-Funeral Information and Assistance Support for people who wish to die at home. Information and resources on all types of grief. Community and professional education The office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays and a message bank is attended to each day for referrals and support. Someone will contact the caller as soon as possible. The office is used for face-to-face support. Committee meetings are held the 1st Thursday in the month 12noon to 1pm at the Community Village.
