HISTORY
A public seminar was held in April, 2003 in The School of Arts, Wentworth Falls, called "Trauma and Grief in Our Community". The Blue Mountains Palliative Support Service and the Blue Mountains City Council sponsored the Seminar. At this event there was a great deal of interest expressed in forming a Nalag chapter in the mountains. Some key areas of interest and need came out, including; Youth at risk; support to isolated members of the community; support for people bereaved by suicide; better access to emotional support following a death; support to those suffering life-threatening illness; parent/child support; support for families following disasters e.g. bush fires, etc.; advice, information; access to education on grief and loss issues. It is not our intention to double up where services already exist, but rather to network with others in the field. Our target area is the whole of the Blue Mountains local government area, and our committee members hail from Blackheath to Springwood. MEETINGSMeetings are held at Mid Mountains Community Centre, 9 New Street, Lawson on the third Monday each month, at 7:00 pm. Enquiries for membership are welcome. CONTACTS
