Biography
Julie has been working as a
psychologist in the area of loss grief and trauma for
over 28 years. She is the Director of Health Promotion
LNS in Northern Sydney Central Coast Health with a focus
on emotional social health of communities. Over the past
four years Julie has been the Bali Trauma Recovery
Coordinator primarily working with NSW Bali Bombing
victims, survivors, bereaved and those who had been part
of the rescue efforts; survivors from the Tsunami and
other major trauma events.
Julie has travelled
extensively lecturing and running workshops on trauma,
grief and loss with a focus on sudden unexpected
traumatic loss and children and adolescent grief. She
ran some of the first workshops in Australia that
addressed the grief associated with separation and
divorce. Julie was instrumental in the development &
facilitation of “Good Grief” weekends for bereaved
adolescents. Julie is a founding member of CanTeen
(Australian Teenage Cancer Patients' Society Inc.) She
is a co-founder of SANDS (NSW) (Stillbirth and Neonatal
Death Support Group).
Julie is a regular on ABC
radio and has made a number of TV documentaries on loss,
grief and trauma.

Biography
Trudy is the Manager of the
NALAG Centre for Loss & Grief in Dubbo, New South Wales.
She is a Grief Counsellor and Educator who has worked in
the field of grief and bereavement for over 20 years.
Trudy has trained many
professionals and volunteers in grief theory,
intervention and counselling skills all over NSW and has
presented at the International Conference for Grief and
Bereavement in London in 2005.
She has a strong interest in
Indigenous loss and grief, child and adolescent grief,
traumatic and complex bereavement.

Biography
Beate Steller currently works as a Team Leader in
Residential Aged Care in Spiritual /Pastoral Care and
until recently was Lifeline's (Sydney/Sutherland)
Telephone Counselling Trainer for 9 years. With both
graduate and post graduate qualifications in Adult
Education, Social Work and Nursing she has worked
overseas and predominantly with people from culturally
and linguistically diverse backgrounds and with
Indigenous communities.
Beate has thirty years of
experience working in a variety of areas such as in
palliative care, unemployment support, aged services,
relationship education, strategic planning, team
building and community housing. She has worked mainly in
the community sector and also for local and state
government and the private sector. Beate has managed her
Training and Development business for the last 10 years.

Cathy Banks

Biography
Cathy Banks is an
experienced Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Workplace
Trainer. Cathy has gained experience in organisations
such as ANZ Bank, Dept of Corrective Services (Probation
& Parole), public schools, and private clinics.
Cathy now works in her own
private practice in Chatswood, Sydney, specialising in
working with children, particularly in the areas of
grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Cathy continues
to work in Sydney schools as a Consultant and Group
Facilitator, designing and running programmes for the
prevention and treatment of anxiety and depression,
resilience training, and social skills.
Cathy obtained accreditation
as a Sandplay Therapist from the Jansen Newman Institute
of Counselling & Applied Psychotherapy. More
importantly, Cathy is married with two wonderful
children, who taught her the value of experiential
learning.
