About NALAG

The National Association for Loss & Grief (NSW) Inc Incorporated was founded in 1977 after the Granville train disaster.  In 2007, we commemorated the 30th Anniversary of the foundation of the National Association for Loss & Grief (NSW) Inc.

The Granville train disaster on 18th January 1977 changed the focus on trauma, loss and grief to NSW.  To download a short history by life member Geoffrey Glassock given at the 30th Anniversary Dinner click here.

What we do

Since its formation NALAG (NSW) Inc’s primary objective has been to encourage and promote professional and community education in loss, grief, bereavement and trauma.

NALAG (NSW) Inc has been involved in the establishment of many of the loss and grief support groups throughout Australia. NALAG is frequently called upon for training and advice by schools, corporations, government departments, media and individuals.

Our primary objective is to build the capacity of individuals, organisations and communities in order to enhance well-being following loss, grief, bereavement and trauma. NALAG (NSW) Inc has Centres and Branches across NSW with it's State office located at the NALAG Centre for Loss & Grief in Dubbo.

NALAG (NSW) Inc. is an independent, not for profit organisation.  Registered as a public benevolent institution NALAG (NSW) Inc. is funded by NSW Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol. NALAG (NSW) Inc. is governed by a Board of Management.
